I don't think I would feel this way if Berseria wasn't so good.Īs for the last act in this game, I feel it pretty much held on to the very end, I was pleasantly surprised that it didn't flop like most of the series does (I think only Abyss did the last act better, and it was certainly better than Vesperia's 3rd act story-wise).
I agree with a lot of your sentiment about the series as a whole though and that's probably why I'm so excited to see what a fully next gen engine will do for the series as far as aesthetic and design. Was almost going to skip this game, too, but I dunno something just made me really interested in it at the last minute and I preordered it the week before it came out haha.

Let us know in the comments.I've said I'm a huge Tales fan before, but I skipped Zestiria too after feeling a bit meh from Xillia and Hearts (feels like I missed something about Hearts since quite a few people here seemed to like it), guess I was feeling a bit like you in this regard.

Magilou is the designated comic relief and she was a joy so far in the journey. Their personalities shine through in the skits and various conversations held in the over world. I love that the main protagonist is not the traditional hero. In addition her demon arm adds an exciting elements to the battle. It has been great watching her move across the screen in a flurry of kicks and punches. I have been using Velvet as my main attacker and all of her moves are connected to the face buttons on the Dualshock controller. The main character Velvet can be very OP though once u figure out how it works. They fixed the camera! Thank god because that was a hot mess in Zestiria. A lot of the actions Velvet and company take have real life consequences to the people around you. Zestiria tries to make the player feel like the journey is justified while Berseria does not hold your hand. The game made sure to let you know that this was not the typical “feel good” story. But I can tell you that Velvet takes “by any means necessary” very seriously. Since I just started I can’t say how it will end. I love her outfit but of course there is always the option to change her clothes as you find more costumes. That is evident by the skimpy attire that Velvet, the main character, runs around in. The scene occurs very early in the game and the company promises that nothing else was changed in the US/EU release. I’m not going to spoil it but there is a video that highlights the part that was changed. There was talk of a controversial scene in the very beginning of the game. I like having a clear direction to travel and the world being open for the sake of it has not been appealing for me personally 2. The open areas of the map give the illusion of openness but not quite. The world was colorful but bright and empty. Zestiria suffered from being open world just for the sake of it.
